Australian Open 2027 FAQs

Everything you need to know about official Australian Open 2027 ticket-inclusive travel packages, Melbourne hotels, hospitality and travel.

The Event

The Australian Open 2027 runs from 11–31 January 2027 at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia. Opening Week is scheduled from 11–16 January 2027, followed by the main tournament from 17–31 January 2027.

The main Australian Open 2027 tournament begins on Sunday, 17 January 2027 — the tournament's fourth straight Sunday start. The first week features early-round matches across multiple courts, and the second week features the later rounds, including quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

Opening Week is the week before the main tournament begins. It gives fans a chance to experience Melbourne Park before the main draw, with qualifying, practice sessions, entertainment and a more relaxed festival atmosphere. It's a great option for guests who want to enjoy the precinct and see players up close before the busiest tournament days.

The Australian Open 2027 is held at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The precinct includes Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, John Cain Arena, outside courts, practice courts, food areas, entertainment spaces and hospitality venues. It's close to the Melbourne CBD.

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the tennis season and one of the world's most exciting sporting events. Beyond the tennis, Melbourne in January offers warm summer weather, outdoor dining, laneway bars, rooftop venues, the Yarra River, premium hotels and a city-wide sporting atmosphere.

The Australian Open is often called the Happy Slam because of its relaxed summer feel, friendly crowd atmosphere, entertainment, food, family activities and easy access around Melbourne Park. For many international travellers, it combines world-class tennis with a holiday-style experience.

The main tournament runs from Sunday 17 January to Sunday 31 January 2027. The expected flow is: First Round 17–19 January; Second Round 20–21 January; Third Round 22–23 January; Fourth Round 24–25 January; Quarter-finals 26–27 January; Women's Semi-finals 28 January; Men's Semi-finals 29 January; Women's Final 30 January; Men's Final 31 January. All dates, session times, court allocations and order of play are subject to change by the tournament organiser.

Day sessions usually begin from late morning or around midday, depending on the court and official schedule. Day session guests can often enjoy more time around Melbourne Park, including outside courts, food areas, entertainment and the wider precinct atmosphere.

Night sessions usually begin in the evening, with access to the precinct from late afternoon. Night sessions are popular for marquee matches, atmosphere and premium Rod Laver Arena experiences.

Day sessions are best for guests who want a fuller day at Melbourne Park, more tennis across the precinct and a relaxed summer event experience. Night sessions are best for guests who want big-match atmosphere, cooler evening conditions and a premium entertainment feel.

In many cases, day session ticketholders may remain within Melbourne Park after their reserved arena session, subject to official event rules and venue conditions. However, your reserved arena seat only applies to the session shown on your ticket.

Night session entry usually begins later in the day. If you want to explore Melbourne Park earlier, ask Global Sports Travel about adding a Grounds Pass or another session to your package.

The final order of play is usually released close to each match day. Exact player schedules, match times and court assignments are not confirmed far in advance because they depend on the draw, previous results, match lengths, weather, broadcast requirements and tournament scheduling.

No. Specific player appearances cannot be guaranteed. Our team can guide you on the sessions most likely to suit your preferences, but the draw, results, injury, scheduling and court allocation determine when and where players compete.

Melbourne Park is close to Melbourne CBD and is easy to reach by tram, train, walking route, rideshare, taxi or private transfer. Many guests stay in the CBD for easy access to the venue, restaurants, shopping, bars and the Yarra River precinct.

Yes. Many guests walk to Melbourne Park from the CBD, Flinders Street Station, Southbank or nearby hotels. The walk through Birrarung Marr and along the Yarra River is a popular way to arrive, especially in good weather.

Yes. Tram services usually operate to Melbourne Park during the Australian Open, with special event transport arrangements often in place. Final transport details are confirmed closer to the event.

Yes. Taxis and rideshare services operate in Melbourne. During peak session times, delays and surge pricing may occur, so it's worth planning your transport in advance.

Melbourne in January is energetic, warm and full of life. The city becomes the perfect backdrop for the Australian Open, with tennis fans, outdoor dining, rooftop bars, laneways, live entertainment, shopping and summer events all adding to the atmosphere.

Between sessions, guests can explore Federation Square, Hosier Lane, Southbank, the Yarra River, Queen Victoria Market, the Royal Botanic Gardens, St Kilda, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Melbourne's famous restaurant and café scene.

Yes. We can recommend restaurants, attractions, tours and experiences based on your travel style and itinerary — especially useful for international guests, corporate clients and travellers extending their stay beyond the tennis.

Yes. The Australian Open is a great anchor event for a wider Australia holiday. Popular extensions include Sydney, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns, the Great Ocean Road, Tasmania, Perth and New Zealand.

January is summer in Melbourne. Expect warm days, long evenings and occasional weather changes. Guests should prepare for sun exposure, warm conditions and time spent walking around the precinct.

Wear comfortable summer clothing, breathable fabrics, sunglasses, a hat and comfortable shoes. For hospitality areas, smart casual attire is recommended, and some premium spaces may have their own dress expectations.

Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena have retractable roofs, which helps protect main arena play during wet weather or extreme conditions. Outside courts may be delayed, suspended or rescheduled depending on the weather and tournament decisions.

Bring your phone with digital ticket access, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable shoes, a portable charger and weather-appropriate clothing. Final permitted-item rules are subject to official Australian Open venue conditions.

Tickets & Packages

The best way to secure Australian Open 2027 access through Global Sports Travel is by booking an official ticket-inclusive travel package. Most packages include official Australian Open access together with Melbourne hotel accommodation, and may also include selected hospitality, airport transfers, private transfers, extra nights, flights on request and tailored travel services.

Global Sports Travel specialises in official Australian Open 2027 ticket-inclusive travel packages. For most customers, access is provided as part of a package that includes official tickets and Melbourne hotel accommodation. The only non-hotel option generally available is selected Australian Open hospitality access for eligible overseas travellers. Standard ticket-only sales without accommodation or hospitality are not our usual offering.

Yes. Australian Open 2027 packages are available through Global Sports Travel, subject to ticket category, hotel availability, hospitality availability and final confirmation.

Most Australian Open 2027 packages offered by Global Sports Travel include Melbourne hotel accommodation together with official Australian Open access. The main exception is selected hospitality-only access, which may be available for eligible overseas travellers, subject to availability, eligibility and final confirmation.

If you only want Australian Open access without hotel accommodation, the available option may be selected hospitality access for eligible overseas travellers. For general reserved seats or Grounds Pass access, Global Sports Travel primarily offers these as part of ticket-inclusive travel packages with accommodation.

Australian Open 2027 packages can include official Australian Open access, Melbourne accommodation, hospitality and travel services. Depending on the package, inclusions may include official tickets, hotel accommodation, AO Reserve or premium hospitality, airport and private transfers, Melbourne experiences and sightseeing, flights on request, travel insurance options, and dedicated support before and during travel.

Package prices depend on the session, ticket category, hotel standard, number of nights, room occupancy and optional inclusions. First-week packages are generally more accessible, while semi-finals, finals, premium seating and AO Reserve hospitality are higher-demand experiences. We provide clear per-person pricing based on your selected package.

Australian Open package prices are usually shown per person, unless clearly stated otherwise. For hotel packages, pricing may be based on twin share, double share, single occupancy, triple share, family rooms or apartment-style accommodation. Our team will confirm the exact pricing basis before you book.

Yes. We can build a tailored Australian Open 2027 package around your preferred travel dates, tennis sessions, ticket category, hotel, room type, transfers, hospitality and travel plans — ideal for families, international travellers, corporate groups and VIP guests.

Yes. Extra nights can usually be added to your Melbourne stay, subject to hotel availability. Many guests arrive before their first session, stay after the finals or extend their Australian Open trip into a broader Melbourne or Australia holiday.

Flights are not included unless specifically stated in your package. Global Sports Travel can assist with domestic and international flights on request, or you may book your own flights and arrange a land-only package with tickets, accommodation and selected travel services.

Yes. Land-only Australian Open packages are available for guests who want to arrange their own flights. A land-only package may include official Australian Open access, accommodation, transfers, hospitality and local travel support.

Yes. Airport transfers can be added to your Australian Open 2027 package and may be arranged for individuals, couples, families, VIPs and corporate groups, subject to availability and final itinerary details.

Yes. Melbourne experiences, day tours, restaurant recommendations and additional activities can be added to your package. Popular options include the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Federation Square, Hosier Lane, Southbank, St Kilda, Queen Victoria Market, the Yarra River precinct, the Great Ocean Road and Melbourne's dining scene.

Yes. Many guests combine the Australian Open with a broader Australia or New Zealand holiday. We can assist with extensions to Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Cairns, Tasmania, Perth, the Great Ocean Road, New Zealand and other destinations depending on your travel style.

A first week package is ideal if you want to see more players, more matches and more of Melbourne Park. The tournament is full of activity across Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, John Cain Arena and the outside courts — a great choice for families, tennis fans and travellers who want variety, atmosphere and strong value.

A second week package is best if you want the biggest matches and the highest-stakes tennis. The second week includes the fourth round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. Rod Laver Arena becomes the key court for many of the most important matches, making second week packages popular with serious tennis fans and premium travellers.

Yes. Finals packages may be available for the women's final, men's final, semi-finals and surrounding sessions, subject to availability. Finals packages are among the most in-demand Australian Open experiences and should be booked early.

First week packages are often the best choice for families because there is more tennis across more courts, more time to explore the precinct and a more flexible day out. Families may also prefer serviced apartments, interconnecting rooms or hotels with easier access to transport.

Corporate clients often prefer AO Reserve hospitality, premium seating, semi-finals, finals, high-quality hotels and private transfers. We can assist with corporate hospitality, incentive travel, client entertainment and group travel planning for Australian Open 2027.

International travellers often benefit from a complete package including official Australian Open access, hotel accommodation, transfers and optional add-ons. This makes the trip easier to manage and gives guests one point of contact for their Australian Open travel experience.

A Grounds Pass gives access to Melbourne Park and selected outside courts, practice courts and general precinct areas, subject to capacity and event conditions. It does not include a reserved seat in Rod Laver Arena or Margaret Court Arena.

A Rod Laver Arena ticket usually includes entry to Melbourne Park and a reserved seat in Rod Laver Arena for your selected session. Rod Laver Arena is the main show court and hosts many of the biggest Australian Open matches, especially during the second week.

A Margaret Court Arena ticket usually includes entry to Melbourne Park and a reserved seat in Margaret Court Arena for your selected session. It's a strong option during the first week, when many seeded players and high-quality matches are scheduled across multiple courts.

No. A Rod Laver Arena ticket does not automatically include a reserved seat in Margaret Court Arena. Access to other courts depends on ticket type, capacity, session rules and official event conditions.

Access to John Cain Arena and outside courts may be available depending on ticket type, capacity and official event conditions. Some courts may reach capacity during popular matches, so access is not always guaranteed.

For bookings made together, Global Sports Travel will request seats together wherever possible. Final seating allocation depends on ticket category, availability, organiser allocation and supplier confirmation.

Exact seat selection is not always available. Guests usually choose a seating category or package level, with final seat allocation confirmed through the approved ticketing process.

Not always. Multi-session packages may include different seat locations across different days or sessions. Seats are allocated according to the confirmed ticket category and package conditions.

Seating categories are indicative and subject to final allocation. Final seats are issued according to the confirmed ticket type, supplier allocation and event organiser conditions.

Global Sports Travel will provide instructions once ticket access becomes available. Please ensure the email address and contact details used for your booking are correct, as ticket access instructions are generally sent digitally.

Australian Open match tickets may not include access to separate concerts, music festivals or special events unless specifically stated in your package. If you would like to attend additional entertainment or a special event, please ask Global Sports Travel and our team can confirm whether separate tickets are required.

Hotels & Accommodation

For group or official travel program bookings, individual hotel confirmation numbers may not be available until closer to check-in. Your room is secured once your booking is confirmed and paid according to the package terms. Final hotel details will be included in your travel documents.

Most hotels require a credit card pre-authorisation at check-in to cover incidental charges such as minibar, room service or other hotel expenses. A pre-authorisation is not usually a completed transaction — it temporarily holds an amount on your card and is generally released by your bank after check-out, depending on the hotel and card provider.

Yes. Extra nights can usually be requested, subject to hotel availability, room type and package conditions. Please contact Global Sports Travel as early as possible if you would like to arrive earlier or stay longer.

If you have booked additional nights directly with the hotel, Global Sports Travel may be able to request that the bookings are linked, especially if the room type is the same. This cannot be guaranteed, but we can ask the hotel to note the request so you have the best chance of staying in the same room.

You may be able to arrive later or leave earlier, but unused hotel nights or package components may not be refundable. Please contact Global Sports Travel before making changes to your travel dates.

Early check-in is subject to hotel availability on the day. If your room is not ready, most hotels can store your luggage until check-in time.

Late check-out is subject to hotel availability and may incur an additional charge. This is usually arranged directly with the hotel.

Hotel parking may be available at selected properties, subject to availability and additional cost. Please advise Global Sports Travel if you require parking.

Hotel loyalty points may not apply to package or group-rate bookings. Some hotels may still recognise membership status benefits, but this depends on the hotel's own policy and cannot be guaranteed.

Payments & Receipts

A receipt will be issued once your payment has been received and reconciled. Bank transfers and some payment methods may take a few business days to clear.

Once your package is fully paid, Global Sports Travel will continue managing your booking and provide final travel documents, ticketing instructions and itinerary details closer to the event.

Some payments can take a few business days to appear in the receiving account. If you have made payment and have not yet received a receipt, please allow time for processing or contact Global Sports Travel with your payment confirmation.

Traditionally, day sessions may include multiple matches, while night sessions often include fewer marquee matches. The final schedule is determined by the tournament organiser and published closer to each match day.

Gate opening times depend on the session and official event schedule. Final gate opening times will be confirmed closer to the tournament.

The official Australian Open schedule and order of play are usually published through the official Australian Open website and app closer to the event. Global Sports Travel will also provide relevant event information with your travel documents where available.

Pass-out or re-entry rules are subject to official Australian Open event conditions. If re-entry is permitted, venue staff at entry and exit points will guide guests through the correct process.

Selected public transport services may be available for Australian Open patrons, subject to official event transport arrangements. Final public transport details for Australian Open 2027 will be confirmed closer to the tournament.

Permitted items are subject to official Australian Open conditions of entry. Generally, guests should travel light and check the official event rules before arrival. GST booked Official ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 packages for me and my team. We were quite impressed with the booking process and flexibility offered by GST.

Will use GST to book our packages for next FIFA world cup too. The tickets sourced by GST were best in class hospitality tickets directly from FIFA. The accommodation was quite comfortable. I highly recommend booking thru Global Sports Travel.

Thanks for managing the sales conference for us. It was the best ever Ashes experience and the whole team felt motivated to visit MCG next year when India plays Australia for boxing day test in 2018.

Very impressed with the deal provided to us. The tickets for State Of Origin game in Brisbane were sold out but GST managed to assist us and secure more than 50 tickets + accommodation packages in a quick time frame. No doubt, we will be booking with GST again next year.
